What Is It Prescribed For? 

  • Ovarian cancer
  • Testicular cancer
  • Bladder cancer
  • Cervical cancer

How Is It Given?

It is given as an infusion into a vein over 6 to 8 hours, once every 3 to 4 weeks.

What Are Common Side Effects?

You may face some of these side effects: 

  • Infusion-related reactions like skin rashes, redness, itching, difficulty breathing or swallowing, swelling of face, fast heartbeat, and dizziness
  • Nausea and vomiting
  • Numbness and tingling of hands or feet
  • Hiccups
  • Hair loss
  • Dehydration
  • Low blood cell count
  • Hearing problems

Your doctor can prescribe medication to control these side effects. Cisplatin may also cause other side effects. If you face any unusual or serious problems, inform your doctor immediately. 

Who Should Avoid Taking This Drug?

It should be avoided in patients with severe hypersensitivity to Cisplatin.
