What Is It Prescribed For?
- Non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma (a condition where cancer affects the lymph system which produces immune cells).
- Follicular B-cell non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma
How Is It Given?
It is given as an infusion into a vein over 10 minutes. Firstly, Rituximab is given and then the first dose of Ibritumomab is given within 4 hours. Imaging tests are done to see how it has spread and shown its actions. If expected results are shown, then the next doses will be given for 7 to 9 days.
What Are Common Side Effects?
You may face some of these side effects:
- Infusion-related reactions like fever, chills, redness, tiredness, headache, shortness of breath, nausea, and decreased blood pressure
- Low blood count
- Increased susceptibility to infections
- Loss of appetite
- Muscle or joint pain
- Cough
- Dizziness
- Nausea
- Diarrhea
Your doctor can prescribe medication to control these side effects. Ibritumomab also causes other side effects. If you face any unusual or serious problems, inform your doctor immediately.
