What Is It Prescribed For? 

It is used to treat HER-2 positive Metastatic breast cancer (Cancer that has spread to other body parts).

How Is It Given?

It is available in tablet form and is taken by mouth once daily one hour before or one hour after food. It should be taken for 21 days in combination with other prescribed drugs.

What Are Common Side Effects?

You may face some of these side effects:

  • Diarrhea
  • Nausea and vomiting
  • Mouth ulcers
  • Tiredness
  • Skin rashes and dry skin

Your doctor can prescribe medication to control these side effects. Lapatinib may also cause other side effects. If you face any unusual or serious side effects, inform your doctor immediately.
